Story of Lord Ganesha (Ganesh Ji Ki Katha)

Once Lord Ganesha in his child form went out to visit the earth with a pinch of rice and a spoon of milk. He was roaming around and asking everyone to make kheer for him. But everyone ignored his words. Then a poor old woman agreed to make kheer for him. On this, Ganesha asked to put the biggest vessel of the house on the stove. The old woman considered it a child leela and put the biggest pan of the house on the stove. As soon as the rice and milk given by Ganesha were put in the pan, it got filled. Meanwhile, Ganesha left from there and said Amma, call me when the kheer is ready. After that, the daughter-in-law of the son of the old woman stole a bowl of kheer and ate it and hid another bowl with herself. Now when the kheer was ready, the old woman called out- Come Ganesha, eat the kheer. Ganesha reached there and said that I have already eaten the kheer. Then the old woman asked when did he eat the kheer? Then Ganesh ji said that my stomach was full only when your daughter-in-law ate the kheer. After hearing this incident, the old woman apologized to him. After this, when the old woman asked about the remaining kheer, Ganesh ji told her to distribute it in the city and bury the remaining kheer in the ground of her house. The next day when the old woman woke up, her hut had turned into a palace and the kheer pots were filled with gold ornaments. By the grace of Ganesh ji, the old woman’s house was filled with wealth.

Sakat Chauth Vrat Katha

According to the Sakat Chauth Vrat Katha, once upon a time, a potter lived in a city. One day, when the potter made a utensil and put the aava (aava) on it, it did not cook. Then the potter got upset and went to the king and told him the whole story. Then the king called the royal Pandit and asked for the solution, then the Pandit said that if one child is sacrificed from every house of the village every day, then the aava will cook every day. The king ordered the whole city to do this. For many days, one child was sacrificed from every house and then when the turn of an old woman’s house came, she started getting worried thinking that her only support in old age is her only son. If he gets sacrificed, what will happen to her. Then she gave Sakat’s betel nut and grass to her son and said, ‘Go son, Sakat Mata will protect you, and she herself started meditating on Sakat Mata. The next morning the potter saw that the aava was cooked and nothing happened to the child and then by the grace of Sakat Mata, those children of the city who had been sacrificed earlier also came back to life. It is said that from that day onwards the importance of Sakat Chauth fast increased manifold and on this day mothers started fasting and worshipping to protect their children.
